my theory is that a big part of it is proportions. Too humanoid, it's not cat-like enough, it just looks like a reskinned Lucario. I changed proportions just a bit and I think it looks a lot better in my eyes

Its not explicitly offensive but its a recurrent anime cliche frequently showing up in dark skinned characters (much less so on light skinned characters.)

Reading Philosophers Stone, and it's fun re-imagining the characters so long after reading it for the first time. I can't see Hermione like she is in the movies at all, she's dark skinned in my mind. Ron is basically real life Alfredo from Ratatouille haha.
