I wonder why we depict and even one day will attempt to design robots (androids) to be so similar to us? They could take any form, so why our own image? Will the desire of human looking machines lead us down a more dangerous path?

And the level of realism. With androids or humanoid robots, you can add more/less detail depending on how much of their inner mechanisms are exposed. Hirofumi Ichikawa's "Transformers" art has the reputation for being toy accurate and having realistic mechanisms/joints.
