This b/w image was achieved by having a black filled layer (white or gray works too!) set to [Color] on top of the original image. Here the values make more sense as the leaves aren't as distinct and the b/w image feels as bright as the colored one.

Turned out to be a pretty decent sample for why not to use Hue/Saturation to check values

Long time no post! Some value studies I did for environment class. Really cool analyzing with limited value.

I started doing thumbnails maybe a year ago, but really only when I draw portraits or as practice studies.
I try my best to just stick to three values, keep it simple, and only elaborate to capture the main gist and/or specific elements of what I want or need.

A quicker female face study from today's stream. 🥰 Trying to get better at values lately, it 's been a while since I've had the time to do any studies. ✨

Oh yes "Kinnara", you pursue such high and noble values that peasants like them could never understand🙄🙄

the team values quality first, so that is why they hold off from definitive language for things that are coming up!

little paint sketch of my vampire OC maddy, still practicing those colors and values and relying less on lines

It took about 10 min. I started with base values of each color in grayscale and made a silhouette. then made an overlay layer on top of that to shade it. and then added a color layer to color the values. I'm sure I can do it faster if I did it more.

Day 2058: Pondering Shading! I tried adding in some shading. I'm a lil torn on the results, I'm not sure how happy I am with them in the end. Still, I think it moved the image for a bit. I think relying on flat values is as important to me as figuring out lighting, for now.
