La Ghirlandata (1873) by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (UK, 1828-1882). Guildhall Art Gallery, London. The model who sat for the painting was Alexa Wilding. #PreRaphaelite #1800s #VictorianArt
Mœbius/Rene Laloux animated sci-fi movie, Les maîtres du temps (Time Masters) (1982).
Self Portrait w/ Eye Glass. Anna Dorothea Therbusch was a Prussian portrait Painter (1721-1782). She gave up painting to help her husband, until 1760, when "with spousal obligations discharged, as 'a short-sighted, middle-aged woman' she abandoned her family to return to her art"

"Hercules Burning Himself on the Pyre in the Presence of His Friend Philoctetes" (1782).
Art by Russian painter Ivan Akimovich Akimov
@SuperheroMethod The art is by John Byrne & Tom Palmer from the 1st panel, 6th page of Silver Surfer #1 (1982). The only discernible difference between the Album art and the Comic art is the coloring. Relativity paid Marvel for the rights to the art, but Byrne never received any compensation.
Animated film, THE SECRET OF NIMH (1982).
My brother and I rented it once. I remember being pretty startled by it. It’s visually spectacular, with its celestial color palettes and the effective use of rotoscoping and backlit animation (for the glowing eyes).
Georgian, Circassian and Armenian Races - by Blackie, W.G. (Comprehensive Atlas & Geography Of The World, 1882). #caucasus #caucasusarchives
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is by Peter Cross for his "Trouble for Trumpets" (1982). There are already blackberries in the Suffolk hedgerows. Perhaps if I look more closely I'll find a world of enchantment & invention & industry, like in Cross's astonishing & intricate paintings!
Ron Cobb concept art for CONAN THE BARBARIAN (1982). Sometimes, great pre-production art is half the battle: it gets everyone ignited and sold on the film—everyone wants to see *that* on the screen.
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay is by William Steig for "Doctor De Soto" (1982). Quirky charm & intelligent humour distinguish Steig's work which includes the original "Shrek". But this is my favourite, about a compassionate dentist mouse & a fox with toothache. A little masterpiece!
