New vampire dropping! "Draugr" is a guy who was turned during the early viking age but has, surprisingly, integrated very well into modern society — to some degree 🦇🩸⚰️

It was mentioned in the discord but I thought I would share it here as well: The stakes featured on some of the draugar in the halloween sale was used by vikings to nail the bodies of fallen vikings to the ground to avoid them rising again. Not all seem to have succeded..

(IMG Artal)

In Norse mythology, Draugr are the spirits of dead Vikings that would rise from their barrows and terrorize villages. It was an Icelandic custom not to open a door unless the visitor knocked three times to signal they were not a Viking zombie.

Draugen is a huge, seaweed covered monster in Norwegian folklore, that was thought to be the ghost of a drowned fisherman. Draugen often appeared during storms, trying to drag the fishermen under water and drown them.

'The Sixth Former.' (1969) Well known as a muralist, Fyffe Christie's oil painting and draughtsmanship are less well-known parts of his career but they represent an extraordinary range and inventiveness in figuration and landscape in the pivotal post-war period of Scottish art.
