A charming little illustration by A. E. Marty found at the bottom of a page of the January 1920 issue of Gazette du bon ton. #fashion #fashionhistory #aemarty #gazettedubonton #1920 #fitnyc #fitspecialcollections #fashioninstituteoftechnology #designarchives
Today's #MerriweatherMonday is actually 2 dresses by Robert Piguet from 1933-1937 ( she liked buying dresses in multiple colors). Piguet is an amazing figure- he was taught by Poiret and Redfern, before going on to teach Dior and Givenchy himself. #FashionHistory @HillwoodMuseum
Today’s #ootd is another dress from the early 1900s- a 1912 dress from @CostumeHeritage. It is an intense deep purple with lovely geometric designs along the shoulders and to the empire waist. I can’t help but love it. #FashionHistory
For this week's #FridayFrills is a 1911-1915 Evening dress from @archivalagents. I adore the silk embroidery on the transparent lighter silk net. #FashionHistory
This is a dress with an interesting history! It’s a 1874 wedding dress for a Quaker woman in Britain. According to @V_and_A, Quaker women favored fashionable dress but did not like to stand out. but look at that back bow! It definitely stands out to me. #fashionhistory
This week's #FridayFrills is this amazing 1760s-1770s British Sack Back @V_and_A. It is decorated by pansies, morning glories, auriculas, carnations, bluebells and roses on green, white and brown stripes. Stripes and complex patterns were popular at the time. #FashionHistory
Today's #ootd is pretty late but here it is- an 1880-1895 dress at @Folkemuseet. This is such a sweet white and lavender dress with ribbons and lace. I especially love the long line of buttons down the front. #FashionHistory

When I first saw this dress, I was stunned and then I saw it was from Worth and it all made sense. It is a 1908 plum cut velvet on chiffon dress that was sold on @AugustaAuction in 2016 for $2580. #FashionHistory
My #ootd today is a little different. This dress was a costume designed by Kathleen May, Maude Marsh & André- Ani for Norma Shearer in the 1926 movie Upstage. It is super Art Deco, with simple striking lines that look absolutely gorgeous #fashionhistory
Today's #ootd is from 1911. A truly gorgeous evening gown that is made of satin with a yellow silk warp and a blue weft. The embroidery is made of golden metal thread with blue thread and blue glass beads. #GalleriadelCostimediPalazzoPitti #FashionHistory
This week’s #fridayfrills is not a subtle dress! It is a 1858 ballgown from @mfaboston. Look at all that pink!!! And it doesn’t stop there, she also has ribbons overflowing from her bodice and flowers on her skirt and in her hair. Beautiful but busy! #fashionhistory
Today’s #ootd is from Balenciaga’s 1948 spring/summer collection. He was inspired by Marie Antoinette, who “favored overdressed with swags anchored by roses.” @metmuseum #FashionHistory
Here’s a 1785-87 French pink striped silk dress @metmuseum. At this time women were highly corseted and their busts spilled out the top of the dress, hence the white silk to cover up the cleavage a little bit. #Fashionhistory
Sorry for the lateness. Here is the last of my unplanned but enthusiastically embraced green week. This is a 1730s green brocade dress from one of my favorite museums in the world @Fashion_Museum #FashionHistory
