Intentional or not that is not how dramatic lighting works on dark skin. Even in the brightest lighting the most light you will see is in the form of highlights, not the entire skin tone. Look at how marina has only a spot of highlight on her head that bright.

The comic came from the Russian lubok. Obviously! Bold, bold, bright. And just as defiantly, leaving the skate on the bottle, the tiger and the rider boldly jumped into the world of lubok, to make chin-chin with glasses of red.

Since I got these together: Cali-Art & Lemouchet skintones. Roughly $20 for the whole pile on Amazon. Both blended great together but the Lemouchet seemed to dry up really fast. Only drawback with Cali-Art was no brush nib, only bullet & wide. Colors are BRIGHT. Love em. 3/
