One of the few times i flet like "yes i nailed what i wanted" was with this I don't know if in my actual style it could look better, besides the lineart. What do you think?

i think its neat that i use three different brushes for lineart... 4 if you count my pixel brush bc i do sneak it in sometimes...

Recently i've been practicing drawing without the use of lineart.
Months ago i did the third pic to practice lightining and shading. The last one was a practice to try to emulate a certain vintage style, with paper filter, gaussian blurs and sketchy-based shading.

Like for my pfp it’s a colored sketch MADE TO LOOK FINISHED but it ain’t ~finished~ lol

It depends tho. If it's just like a character or two in the same canvas, I'll do a little bit of lineart. But if it's a scene, like backgrounds and lighting and stuff, my sketch layer is my lineart layer

im also guessing that you'll need to use shadows more to take the place of lineart

because of that, im guessing pastel colors won't look good without some kind of lineart. which i why i had trouble with this drawing

Definitely like your lineart. Your art pieces that are just that still have a lot of depth. You nail shit pretty nicely in a manga-esque way. I think, believe it or not, I feel like your weakness is colors. Not necessarily the colors you pick, but how you shade them.
