🎶 On the third day of Christmas 🎶....This Doulton tile depicts an array of hens, chickens and even two (turtle) doves. Entitled ‘Fowl’ it was painted by Doulton decorator Margaret Armstrong and complements 2 other tiles in the series.

In November 1809, the Iranian envoy to George III landed at Plymouth. Abu'l-Hasan Khan Ilchi was the first ambassador to England from Iran since 1626. Over his 8 month stay, he became very popular in London high-society & would have his portrait painted a number of times... (1/7)
