Thanks a bunch! I'm KraftKraken an illustrator who enjoys aquatic themes!

Here's Torrent my DnD character and Penny with her spooky ship!

I'm trying to solidify my style for eventual commissions. Lately i'm trying to improve my workflow, shapes, and forms.

Finally wrapped this up, holy shet I got stuck on it forever.
Was gonna give him clothes, but got lazy so he's just a shorts man. Weird workflow. Sculpted a base body, drew over top, rendered out passes for lighting in blender, and then painted.

I've been telling myself for at least 3 years now to do more painterly yet I'm just too lazy to try. Although it has some impressive effects. And my good-old workflow is getting kinda stale lately...hmmmmm...

✨ I like to create my artwork in different styles, and experiment with different workflows! 😊

The hashtag is fun! I always worry that my style is too inconsistent, and that I don't have a "voice", but on the other hand it means I know about 500 different workflows, and can tailor my approach to each task (and deadline) that might come my way.

Another one using the grayscale to color with overlay layer. I enjoy this workflow but I feel like I dont have as much control over the colors.

So i've tried out another workflow, this time with a commission for a friend - here's his dragon boy living it up to the fullest.

I really can't thank enough . It has become an essential part of my workflow ever since I got my Ipad Pro. It is what I use to sketch and render most of my dragon designs.🐉 As for brushes, you got it all covered with brushes.

slightly sick and have no idea where the past week went

poked at it a little more tonight, getting the workflow comfortable (too much mouse clicking and menu rummaging), still just ugly proof of concept stuff, proper gradients/blending/falloff/etc tomorrow

And finally, a color pass. Took some experimenting to get it to blend right, but I like the results. CA and DOF added in PS.

Here's a breakdown. Still a lot of hand refinement needed, since it was a neutral pose without much detail, but it seemed to get me 70-80% of the way there without much effort. Took a little less than an hour to get to this point.

Changing gears a bit. Taking a stab at the grayscale/value painting approach using Procreate. I'm trying out a workflow where I do an initial 3d render of a reference model and then feed it through a neural network to get it closer to a painted look.

update on csp x opentoonz workflow, exporting to optnz file does a nice job making lineart crisp for click & drop coloring. if i have time tomorrow gonna experiment with the auto-paint feature (1st pic: csp lineart + shadow markup, 2nd & 3rd pic: optnz export preview)
