... it didn't capture the feeling I was after. I wanted more movement, evoking salty ocean winds, and so looked to Turner for inspiration. Instead of the crescent moon as a seat, it became part of the instrument, the moonbeams as strings, which I thought was a better idea.(2/3)

Updating class notes on downslope windstorms, and got into making cross sections from HRRR short-term forecasts on December 30 (windstorm that led to the Marshall Fire). Remarkable how quick the onset of intense winds was in the late morning, then persisted for many hrs.
