In Aztec times (1,000 years after Teotihuacan), frescos were used in temples and elite residences, not in commoner houses. This one is from Tenayucca (ca. AD 1100-1300), in Mexico City. Aztec artists anticipated the skull and cross-bones motif long before pirates!

Btw, my participation for the of this month! the theme is 'aztec warrior', so I investigated and despite not fighting unless under desperate circumstances, women were considered to have a battle when giving birth; if they died, they were treated like true warriors.

A WIP, but this is Quetzalcoatl! A cyborg with faint Aztec descent who originally wants to be a luchador. She won't hesitate to beat you up if you taunt her, but she does have a heart of gold.
