I would argue that Sonic Forces had ambition and passion, but it did not come across in the final product at least in the grand scheme of things.

The PS1 aesthetic I think would be fun to work in generally because the limitations allow for a lot of creativity, but also would also ideally help make a game like this possible on a much smaller production than the original, apart from the SE style cutscene animation lol
