I'm a huge nerd for almost visual illusion with color and transparency in paintings. I'll layer yellow over blue to get green more often than I use actual green pigments because it's visually more interesting.

Also a total pain in the ass to photograph.

It turns out a texture in Rayman 2 was accidentally left fully transparent, thus it doesn't normally show. Removing the transparency makes it appear fine.
This was fixed on 3DS and PS2 and does not happen on N64, DS or PS1.

I tweaked mine to be a little close, it fades out at the edges by distance from camera, the dark fading out first. I added a high frequency ripple to the light one.

I also tweaked the transparency so items are a little visible below the water then fade.
