“The Disasters of War” is a series of 82 etchings by Spanish artist Francisco Goya. Goya worked on the plates during the actual Peninsular War (1807 -1814), during which there were 215,000–375,000 deaths.
The images weren't published until 1863, 35 years after Goya’s death.

Every trait in the 1,989 Sisters collection was created with intention. Sisters highlight my favorite fashion moments from different decades. The Primary Sweater is inspired by @PendletonWM an American brand est. 1863, based in Portland, OR. This asset is a nod to my PNW roots.
1918 lithograph by Archibald Thorburn of the four European pigeons, plus Pallas's Sandgrouse which was seen in Western Europe in 1863, 1888 & 1908 - even staying to breed - but is usually a bird of central Asia, Siberia & China .. & was thought, wrongly, to be related to pigeons.

The artist died in Bayswater in 1863, aged 77. Hands (1860), Academic Studies (nd) & Study (nd). There have been exhibitions of his work in the past but it’s clear that another one, especially of his treatment of the nude is needed.
DOTD - 12/09/1863 - Elizabeth Dickens. She was buried next to her husband in Highgate cemetery. CD composed the (less than fulsome) epitaph on the stone - "Here also lie the remains of Elizabeth Dickens,/ His wife,/ Who died September 12th 1863,/ Aged 73 years."
