John Brown, the Kansas abolitionist who seized the @HarpersFerryNPS Arsenal a month earlier, was convicted #OTD in 1859 of murder, treason, and conspiring with slaves to rebel. He was hanged a month later, ending what is known as the Tragic Prelude to the #CivilWar.
