I thought he'd chase Popeye for the ring the whole way through instead of sitting in the ocean for a large chunk of it

The one thing I know about Popeye is that he's strong to the finish, because he eats his spinach. That's how he's able to beat up Bluto and his other enemies, and to save Olive Oyl. 👍👍
