The dead giveaway is the little backgrounds that are on the face pictures. You can't do layers like that in MS Paint. Gimp, while not nearly as good as photoshop, is free, and lets you do layers.

As for GIMP, I've been using it for ages and I'm fairly well-versed at this point. I don't draw with it, but I use it for all of my image editing.

from my beginning times at 18 trying to do art from GIMP, moved to Ibis Paint X to now Clip Studio Paint now at 20! Oh boy

Here's a little thing I wiped up in Clip Studio Paint today. After years of using Gimp, I think I finally want to switch to a new art program. Clip Studio Paint is really nice.

left pic is the original skye doodle (she was actually tiny!!) and right pic is what happened after i upped the exposure on gimp, isolated the pen lines, and used the fill tool to color her in (plus minimal shading using just a mouse)

When I first started, I didn't know about layers! So I'd sketch my art on paper, take a picture of it, put it into gimp, and draw over it all in one layer. :')
