This drawing was made by an Austrian schoolchild in 1916. Interestingly, it depicts an Austro-Hungarian cavalryman attacking what appears to be three French infantrymen.

"One-Year Volunteer Gefreiter" (1916) by Austrian painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Schiele is known for his self-portraits and served as a One-Year Volunteer during the war. He avoided frontline service, but died of the Spanish Flu in 1918
