STEP 9 & 10

Then onwards to the lips! Fairly simple you can just use two colours from the same colours we have used for the skin before and only use airbrush. You're almost done now, but what are we missing? That's right its highlights, you can use the base colour for it to pop!

Here’s a little peer into my process for Blinxx
This piece is about the feeling of embarrassment and shame, and how it makes me feel like I’m drowning.

1. Messy Sketch
2. Less messy sketch
3. Refined line work and shadows
4. Color, highlights, texture

I layer a lot. This is without the water layer it shows the background and where I didn't draw in the feet on purpose. On top of this is a 50% opacity layer and one more for the highlights, 60% opacity. It will look a lot more like water once I'm finished.

Another ko-fi sketch I colored from , now with spoopy theme! 💀🖤 Not very confident with drawing shadows and highlights, but I think I like the technique I’ve used for a couple of drawings now! 🙏

then I select a color at a time > duplicate it > select the flat color and do a couple shading passes using multiply for shadows, add for highlights, and screen for bounce light. I just copy the flat color and work with that for all layers, regardless of how good or bad it looks

i personally think the troll glow panels are weird cuz the lighting is wack... like why is the monitor casting a red shadow on her face?? that's not how lights work at all... and if the grey part is supposed to be the highlights, why is the neck grey too??

I can’t take credit for that decision, I based it on this style from the comics. But old school anime has similar highlights as well, so I thought it blended well. Definitely play and experiment with color highlights, really makes artwork pop! 👍🏻✨

Greater Bilby

Greater Bilby has short, dark gray messy hair. It has a beige outline which is also present in her side bangs - the middlemost bang fades into pink instead. She has brown irides with highlights, signifying her species is not extinct.

Doing some "three-value sketches" (highlights, midtones, shadows) for compositions for two new WW2 pieces.

Trying to get a cinematic feel that is also fairly easy to read (as I feel it'll help with my Warhammer and Star Wars job stuff down the line, too)

Sometimes I get frustrated over how inconsistent some aspects of my art are, like the shading and highlights, but I actually really like it. It gives each piece its own uniqueness and personality as if it gained a life of its own as I drew.

Also Alt version

This one is more cartoon like with those harsh highlights, certainly gives it a more "pop" look

I really like the high contrast on it, again thank you a lot ! 🥰

I've been watching some character design videos lately, and I'm surprised that they use so few layers of shadows and highlights, so this is an attempt at that. Emiko's face is very nice
