Happy #marbledmonday! This pattern, with its distinctive white spots, is from The Natural History and Antiquities of the County of Surrey.
Published in 1718, it was written by John Aubrey (1626-1697), an antiquarian and biographer.

Sunny Spanish #landscapes were painted by residents at @Claremont_Court and Springfield House in Surrey.
They spent time viewing images of the landscapes then everyone had their own interpretation of how to translate it into painting.

@judy_rudoe @britishmuseum This French cartoon (also @britishmuseum) shows Victoria meeting Louis Philippe after he had been deposed in 1848. She is shocked to see that he has been reduced to wearing a peasant's smock. In fact he lived quite comfortably in exile in Surrey.
