Shadow of the Beast was never a deep game.
It was the game you put on to show off what the Amiga could do. Amaze people for a minute, then reset, and boot Hybris/Lemmings/Virus/etc.

@kamelito @WeHeartBoxArt @JudgeDrokk But, that said, there are *so* many vertical scrolling shooters in the world that this could be mere coincidence. It also feels a little Xevious to me. 😄 And, at least Hybris does go to much more fanciful landscapes in the later levels. It's really a stunning game. 👍

Hybris
A superb shooter that wouldn’t have looked out of place in an 80s arcade. Nice presentation (you can change the game’s parameters), a cool electro-rock soundtrack & a perfectly judged difficulty curve, make Hybris brilliantly playable.

@UridiumAuthor So, if it was Hybris running in fast bursts, Ghosts 'n Goblins just not working (til WHDLoad), something hating the 040 caches, or a game trying to attach its view to the current screen, not realising it wasn't PAL. Every upgrade taught me new tricks of how to degrade the system.
@Al82_Retro I have Hybris and Battle Squadron. Both amazing games. They really showed the way for what the Amiga was capable of. ..Was it really only three levels for Hybris? Wow. I think, because they're each so long, it feels like a lot more.
