GM! My studies are currently in 3D/2D space. I am not a big fan of surrealism but after spending some time with Miro I finally realised that just small abstractions can be so inspiring. Without Impressionists we would have no abstract expressionists like Rotcho of Pollock!

Edgar Payne’s innate talents and careful eye enabled him to capture moments in the West using broad brush strokes like the Impressionists’. The subjects of his Arizona Indians are perfectly comfortable in a roughly depicted, yet expansive landscape.

Happy birthday, Claude Monet, born on this day in 1840. A key figure in the Impressionist movement, his desire to capture the ephemeral atmospheric effects outdoors exemplifies the goals of the Impressionists. His quick, dappled brushwork was a standard for the Impressionists.
