SDF-1 Macross.

A ship so cool it has ships on it.

Well Robotech itself is an edit of three different anime series. Macross saga is an edit specifically of Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Shoji Kawamori is one of the key creators of Macross and its mechs. Other two anime used for Robotech have no connection to him or Macross.

I've been retweeting Macross fan art from AST21 (aka Gsh_60_1) all week. As such I'll pivot to some non-Macross. Today its the Knight of Gold from Five Star Stories. I loved coloring this mecha and even created a fan-made Knight of Silver. Line art by Mamoru Nagano. Colors by me.

Max and Milia are a fan favorite power-couple from the original 1982 anime TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Today I share revised coloring for Milia in red and white and Max in blue and white. Line art by Shoji Kawamori. Colors by me

Nothing like finishing out the year with some MACROSS. 💖

✨If you're around my age you probably also grew up with Robotech, or some variation of Macross. Here's a quick Rick Hunter.

And if y'all thought I was gonna draw a Valkyrie VF-1J y'all must not know me very well...✨

Please don't call it Macross. Robotech and Macross are not the same thing. Robotech uses an edited version Super Dimension Fortress Macross for one part of it. Macross itself is now a franchise in Japan and has no connection to Robotech.

Thinking what if The Earth Fighter Rayieza took off as a popular Enix JRPG series like Dragon Quest did and we ended up getting dozens of sequels with Nagai's take on Macross.

Examining the curious rotary cannons of Macross. As is the case for most Macross technology, it is a fun melange of retro military hardware, current technology and future science fiction. Art by Shoji Kawamori. GU-17A by SoftBank. Colors by me

It is also the type of thing that misleads others into thinking Robotech and Macross are the same thing. Robotech uses an edited version of Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Macross itself is an ongoing franchise that has nothing to do with Robotech.

Yes, I know. I operate an English language fan website dedicated to Macross. I color all the Macross mecha. Here is my coloring of the VF-1S Valkyrie (with STRIKE Pack). The Zeta Gundam built by uses the VF-1S colors ❤️

Robotech is not Macross. Robotech uses an edited version Super Dimension Fortress Macross as part of the series. The rest of it is from other anime.

Macross itself is an going franchise. It has a number of series and movies. Not to forget the books, manga, games, and concerts.

Macross and Robotech aren't the same thing. Robotech uses an edited version of Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

I would suggest watching the one off sequel to SDF. As that is officially up on Youtube for limited time. As is Macross Delta 3D Live.

There are games Macross 30 and Uta Macross. Both have idols and pilots being brought from different time periods. Or at least communicating with each other. Could also do it as them being grandkids of. Which has happened in Macross series at least twice now.
