Lots of birds out today! This cutie wasn’t at the window feeder but I’ve seen it flitting about town. We had tufted titmouses and black-capped chickadees at the window today, and lots of robins and woodpeckers in the yard. 🐦🪶 https://t.co/eq6Wg0XuNZ

Even the grizzliest of bears and peskiest of woodpeckers aren’t immune to the damage words can cause. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can hurt, too. 🐻 💬 https://t.co/qDwRMG3uQs

I was very pleasantly surprised with, especially how well it turned out with relatively few colors.

I was watching the "Woodpeckers from Space" music video and learned that the "woodpecker" is actually named Tico. Tico was designed by Dutch cartoonist Dirk Arend, with the animation from the music video done by Danish animator Bjørn Frank Jensen (who also drew this promo comic).

It is today! Have you noticed that these majestic creatures are rarely seen without a few feathered companions? They are called These resourceful little hitch a ride on the back and help themselves to the buffet of ticks. 🐘

Yup, & for modern biota. I just worked it into a book chapter on woodpeckers, describing how the Cretaceous shoreline also influenced historical range of longleaf pine forests (L), which in turn affected red-cockaded woodpecker distribution (R).
