I saw the incredible artwork from on instagram for the couldn't help but give it a try, I made it on Zbrush, rendered in Arnold Maya, with some postproduction in Photoshop and After effects.

I feel like doing just a sketch. Hmm, well, maybe I'll relax with some detailed lineart. Ok, but this would look better in flats. That's weird without shading now. Alright, highlights to match. Now photoshop postproduction and oops I accidentally a whole picture.

And then I added another red tree in that place to connect it with the city and close the story around it. Then the final step was working on it with photoshop, doing some photo bashing, working on the lights, changing the sky and some postproduction stuff.
