Our Collection Curator recently travelled to India to rediscover this view, first captured by artist James Baillie Fraser in 1815. Fraser’s topographical prints, alongside others, are currently on display in our picture gallery.

The castle of Muiden is located near Amsterdam and probably dates from the 14th century. Even today it looks like in the painting "The Castle of Muiden in Winter" in 1658 by Dutch artist Jan Beerstraaten, who specializes in topographical painting.
