Not much you can do differently about Scooby's design. I did consider giving him a darker snout like many Great Danes with brown fur have in real life but it didn't look right.

It annoys me when people say Spider-Man isn't a dark and gritty character.
It may not be the main type of story for Spider-Man, but he is absolutely capable of it and some, if not most, of his best stories are the darker ones.

Get a darker color, choose the texture/shape of the brush (I use airbrush), go over it, multiply it, and decrease opacity for it

i like to add bits of red/green/blue hues wherever possible. there was green/red in the pupil of my reference so i added it there too. i tend to make the last line darker as u can see in the bottom two renders
