1. Grab some small cabinets and oak shelves
2. Color the shelves the same color as wall

I always liked this image from Shatterhand. All the graphics in NES games are built from 8x8 tiles but palettes are applied to backgrounds in 16x16 blocks. If you slap a grid on it, you can see how effectively Natsume worked within this constraint. Almost looks 16-bit!
