Personally I give a 3mm overlap on any spreads so when it opens in a softback book it gives the illusion of continuous artwork. A magazine/staple bound comic doesn't need this as it opens to the full expanse.

here are some of the sketches I did for this card! The brief called for the twins to be in a poster-like, dramatic pose, so I tried out quite a few options.

I wanted them to feel super close and comfortable around each other, and played around with overlap and symmetry.

Generally, wide panels signify longer periods of time; slim panels signify briefer moments — as Miller shows in this Daredevil page.

With gutters, you can signify a pause with a wide gutter. Or, speed things up by overlapping (as I did in these panels from The Blessed Machine). https://t.co/i78mGFBxEW

Just saw someone do this again, so I figured I'd address it. If your silhouette looks flat (1), add a rimlight (2). Offers depth without adding much detail. Also, avoid positioning the figure flatly; try instead to aim parts toward the reader (3), and create areas of overlap (4).
