not sure how you feel about gradients but here is my take? you do not have to keep the spots or pattern on tail or anything but maybe just a more muted purple would work

My only gripe with Pony Life is that for some reason the color palettes look so muted and dull compared to the rest of the MLP brand. I'm not sure why this was a design choice, cause they look a lot more appealing with more saturated colors. Original (left), Altered (Right)

Definitely! I went to an exhibition at Prague's Mucha Museum a few years ago and found likewise: his colours are more muted and subtle than I'd be lead to expect from reproductions. I found them more beautiful.

I've sent myself a tark to make more simplistic and cool colour palette for my character.
So I wanted to focus on pups. Pups is inspired by trees and national tones, the colours are muted because off hes need not to stand out. This is why he only has green on his jumper and feet
