Really enjoyed this book 'A Second Christmas Truce?' by about the meeting of Ernst Junger's 73rd Hannovarians & the Leicesters at Monchy au Bois in December 1915. Well worth a read!

1265 England's first Parliament met at Westminster Hall London, convened by the 6th Earl of Leicester - Simon de Montfort. Leader of the opposition to King Henry III.
In the words of one historian, "the House of Commons in embryo"
Montfort died at Battle of Evesham.

The death of the 7th earl of Leicester in 1743 resulted in a battle royal between his illegitimate daughter, Anne, & his niece, Elizabeth Perry, the one referred to as 'the Fairy' & the other as 'the Empress of Penshurst'. The Empress won.
