My friend brought this up & he isn't off base: the Black arc would have ended on a more interesting note if they hadn't retconned the Potara, & the arc ends with Vegetto staying fused. Then the next arc could have been about finding a way to undo it.

Perez was a miracle in comics - he drew, he wrote, he inked, he painted, and he did it all *so well.* His Wonder Woman remained the basic building block of what and who Diana is, even now when his actual WW stories have largely been retconned out. The DCEU Diana is all Perez.
