Characters aging done well is enough to make me cry, vinland saga is so good because it really made you feel like time went by,years at a time and how life is fleeting, harsh, but beautiful.

There has never been a piece of media I've loved more than vinland saga.

agrees with you. I don't mind the good vs evil story if it's done good, like Sengoku Saga or Dragon Saga. But it is indeed overdone, sadly. I think the reason is because they kind of want to tie the background story with the anime.

For the anime Krillin says oh he can't do it because there's too much malice, that's kind of borderline retcon because that contradicts what Goku was able to do all the way back in the cell saga.
