These weren't the only Ishinomori-related projects Konno worked on, though! He dabbled in Rider, too!
Specifically, Konno was the illustrator for the designs and even some color pages in the 2003 "Kamen Rider EVE: Masked Rider Gaia" novels. Would love those to get TLd someday.

A major shout out must be given to Naoyuki Konno, too. If ever someone perfectly captured the "definitive" Ishinomori style for animation, especially longer after Ishinomori's passing, it was Konno IMO. Kikaider: The Animation and Cyborg 009: TCS perfectly exemplify that.

Some manga-based magical girls art for today, featuring Mitsuteru Yokoyama's Sally the Witch, Fujio Akatsuka's Akko-chan, Fujiko F. Fujio's Esper Mami and Shotaro Ishinomori's Sarutobi Ecchan! Colors by Ruby

Art for today is inspired by Shotaro Ishinomori's Chikkun Takkun series. Sometimes an educational comic, sometimes a crazy gag series, Chikkun Takkun is one of the most well known Ishinomori works of its kind coming out from the 80s. Colors by Ruby

New art is a stylized take on Lili and the other Rainbow Sentai members!! One of Japan's first super-hero groups, created by Shotaro Ishinomori in association with the Fujiko Fujio duo and Studio Zero staff! Colors by Ruby

My art for today is Ann Doll from Shotaro Ishinomori's Guy Punch Series. She's the android assistant of detective Guy Punch. She was originally a minor character, but started showing up more and more due to her popularity.

I was very into anime growing up so my es were Aoshi Shinomori and Arashi Kishu. Maybe I had a thing for people skilled at swordplay 😅💘

Here's a few more shots of the Kikaider 01 Re-Edition for comparison. The more I look at these, the more I miss Naoyuki Konno's work with Shotaro Ishinomori's properties. Nothing was ever the same without him.

OH SHIT, I KNEW I HAD SEEN THAT STYLE OF NOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE~! Keiichi Sato did the character designs for That Hentai Gedou Gakuen! while I wasn't too into the porn side of things, the character designs looked rad as fuck! it was a cool mix of Shotaro Ishinomori and Go Nagai imo

Some redesigns for GR Number 5. A somewhat obscure series created by Shotaro Ishinomori in the mid-'70s, which is mostly known for being one of his Group Hero series like Shonen Domei and Cyborg 009! Colors by Ruby!

My brand new stylized design is inspired by Shotaro Ishinomori's Vampila! This is one of my favorites of Ishinomori's comedic efforts because it's absolutely batty (no pun intended). Here's the censored version for now.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past comic from the January 1992 issue of Nintendo Power.

Here is Chapter 1, HERO’S AWAKENING by Shotaro Ishinomori

Marippe Yamada from Shotaro Ishinomori's Kinnaru Yatsura! She's such a stylish character, so I drew her inspired by many different chapters of the manga. She's described as the perfect girl, a tomboyish beauty! Colors by Ruby

Remember that Link to the Past manga drawn by Ishinomori?
Link wore a really cool winter coat in that manga and he's never actually shown getting rid of it.
It's just there for a while, then it's gone by the next page.

Weird.

A little doodle from the other day! She's Super Cat, the mascot of a 70s softcore detective series called The Super Girl! She was designed by Shotaro Ishinomori and acts basically as a sexy version of the Pink Panther. Colors by Ruby.
