Our 2011 Advanced Research of Marco D'Oggiono's #SalvatorMundi revealed Leonardo tried another never before cited "Hand Study"prior to using a final one to assist Pupil D'Oggiono by overpainting his original poorer Hand-Remains as a"Pentimenti" behind it on painting's Subsurface
Salvator Mundi set to be no-show in Louvre show-Facts-This Painting began as Studio Pupil Marco D'Oggiono's Painting with Marco as"Life Model"still on Original Subsurface-Leonardo assisted with Raised Hand,Sleeve,Rock Crystal Orb-Mostly Over-painted to match 17thC HollarEngraving
Today's case study :
Skin shader, Subsurface Scattering material creation in Arnold renderer. ( Maya software )
Polypaint test from Zbrush.
Decimated model.
No specular map/displacement map
I got this commission from the Vietnamese artist Dark134 a few years ago. Look at the Subsurface scattering, it is such a gorgeous piece...it was $55.
Difficult to compete against.

イラストの肌の部分で光と影のキワあたりにオレンジを強めに乗せると良い感じになるのはSSS(SubSurface Scattering)を意識しているのかなー。わかんないけど。
Hand number 46 ... still going strong!! 🙈 more subsurface scattering today.

Quick hand study from photograph to practice painting subsurface scattering 🥰
I love this image, some moons of our Solar System that are geologically active: Jupiter’s moons Io and Europa, and Saturn’s moons Enceladus and Titan, with features ranging from volcanoes and water plumes to possible subsurface oceans 🌕🌑🌋♨️🌊🌫️@NASA
@chiefwildin This is actually a *super* high poly object. It's meant to be used to bake normals onto a low poly object. It's done by using the Subsurf Modifier and then adding a bunch of loops around the edges to make them "sharp". This single piece alone has nearly 40,000 tris itself.
Doing #JuneStudyJam from @ArtCampOfficial . Here is my first, hand study. Trying to understand how light interacts with skin and subsurface scattering. About 1.5 hours
A quick Gabriel from Quarantine Circular! Played through this and Subsurface Circular on the weekend (they're super short) and loved them both BUT where are my romance options for this sensitive large lad, I mean really.
