What program do you use? I use ibis paint, n my primary brush is the fade pen
I usually just mess w colors and the opacity until it blends good
For shading, I tend to take the color, change the hue and lightness down a few n go from that yk??

3. I hide the sketch and make a new layer under the lineart layer and start shading. Apparently renaissance painters used this technique of grayscale to colour. I use a brush that both applies colour and blends (CSP transparent watercolour).

This is my favorite. I love the simplicity and minimalism and how the viewer has to create the shape in order to understand it. The shadow part blends in the bg and becomes part of it. I use this technique a lot in painting.
