compare XP's tileset to VX era or MV
yeah sure xp was desaturated but I think it makes the tileset blends well to the surroundings.

MV and VX era kinda felt garish/bold. I think the more realistic texture it had, the more uncanny it looked with grid/non parallax maps

if you sorta notice, it's not pure airbrush but there's some other "soft" pen used in it

either they stack tons of colors or idk magic watercolor brush that blends depending on your pen pressure

I was hoping this screenshot would be a bit more somber. Instead, the colored bright houses don't look very atmospheric. And I still find the color choice for Pell-chan unfortunate. Should have left his cloak gray, as now Pell-chan blends in as just a black blur
