😅#dinodanshi #euoplocephalus #dinosaurierdanshi
The "Black-headed Snake" exquisitely & expertly illustrated by Harriet Scott, in "The Snakes of Australia" (Krefft 1869). https://t.co/cllxbymNin via @mayrlibrary @BioDivLibrary #BlackheadedPython (Aspidites melanocephalus) #WomensHistoryMonth #HerNaturalHistory #WomenInScience
Black-headed python (Aspidites melanocephalus) is native to Australia & is not venomous. #SciArt by Harriet Scott Morgan for Snakes of Australia (1869) by Gerard Krefft. In #BHLib via @mayrlibrary of @MCZHarvard: https://t.co/3JefUQG80b #HERpers #HerNaturalHistory #5womenartists
English artist Winifred Austen was a member of the Society of Women Artists, London. She provided #SciArt for The Wild Beasts of the World (1909), such this Philippine Flying Lemur (Cynocephalus volans) ➡️ https://t.co/wwERTEu8nr #5womenartists #HerNaturalHistory #MammalMonday
For #WormWednesday here's Parapharyngodon politoedi - a species of nematode found in the Manaus slender-legged tree frog (Osteocephalus taurinus), and is named after Politoed, a frog-like water-type Pokémon

MS. Bodl. 264 contains lots of horses, but if you didn't already know that then we haven't been doing our job properly. There are intimate moments as well as battle scenes; here is Bucephalus hiding under Alexander's cloak during a storm. https://t.co/RrzqlYZUmA
Notice something flapping off the eye of this nosy Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus)?
That's an eye parasite! It causes partial or full blindness over time, but its bioluminescent properties are thought to attract prey. Sharks have many other better-tuned senses anyway!
Sketching this reconstruction of the European wukongopterid Cuspicephalus. It is inspired by the beautiful reconstruction of the same sp by @MarkWitton because I love the idea of those huge quillworts and these pterosaurs foraging for prey amidst them #paleoart #PterosaurPtuesday
Results from the #paleostream! First half was Temnodontosaurus only, With T. longorostris (notice the torso-long skull... not) T. acutirostris and T. eurycephalus.

@Ninjemys and @WitmerLab found that Euoplocephalus had convoluted nasal passages for heat exchange, like a radiator does. Little known fact, Euoplocephalus' nose also freaked out every single guest in its apartment, like my radiator does. #PaleoDoodles

Don’t take Bucephalus on the ice

Did you know THERE ARE SHARKS WHO ARE OLDER THAN THE UNITED STATES?!
Those are the Greenland Sharks (Somniosus microcephalus)! They can live between 300-500 yrs, thrive in waters at freezing temperatures, & despite swimming at 0.76 mph, they are apex predators. Amazing!
