My initial reaction to this cover was concern but perhaps the fight Illyana will be waging will be internal. In issue 24 she does mention that she struggles with what's going on inside of her. She has so much unprocessed trauma and I'm hoping she finally can address it.

Poignantly, Magik does show affectation at one point in the story, despite her otherwise pragmatic nature. She reacts to seeing Kitty Pryde hurt, a great way to shine a light on their relationship and its capacity to break through (or break down) Illyana’s barriers. 13/13

There was so much to love from New Mutants 24 but the highlight for me was FINALLY acknowledging Illyana is suffering from PTSD. Many writers, including Claremont, have written Illyana as struggling with evil instead of she's suffering from PTSD. Thank you Vita!
