I forgot to post this one from a few days ago ! It's a 45 minutes study of Goury, Normandy, in France, done for my students last week.
@Maggid @MarinersMuseum Actually yes! The Mora was built in Normandy but was a Drakkar (dragon) longship of a type first popularized by the Danes: https://t.co/KJ8xQoksR3. Bayeux Tapestry:
@NewtiaofTarth If you want something similar to photoshop, I use Krita to paint. It's free to download. I watched some YouTube tutorials on how to paint galaxies and they helped a lot. (Totally forgot about this painting I did a couple years ago, btw, that's supposed to be the Normandy.)

The Magpie, painted in 1869 near Etretat in Normandy. Some believe that this was the first Impressionist painting, created five years before the movement was named.

Meet Normandy...
In 1925 Maurice de Vlaminck moved to the Eure-et-Loire region of Normandy where he lived for the rest of his life. Here he was able to paint his favourite landscapes using his rich, brooding, palette to express 'the one idea which excused everything: to say & paint what I felt.'
Today’s study is a lot more simple than last week’s, since I’m trying to do something really simple, no texture, no opacity, just focus on values and composition.
Original picture is Mt Saint Michel, Normandy, not that far from where I grew up. Need to go back there !

Interesting game this, bit like a Beach Head type game, stay on a Train while you navigate your escape from Normandy, multiple routes to go down.
