NORMANDY

Since our first visit last June I’ve been captivated by the Normandy campaign. I knew so many men who were involved and visiting the landscapes of their stories was utterly inspiring. I can’t wait to return there next week.

The sun rises on a late June morning, men of 1 Suffolk emerge from the hedgerows, through the sodden corn and under a barrage, to attack the Chateau de la Londe.

Just a bit more teasing for the exhibition 'Qui es-tu Apollon? De l'Antiquité à la culture pop' ('Who Are You Apollo? From Antiquity to Pop Culture'), opening 15 April at the Juliobona Gallo-Roman Museum in Lillebonne, France (Normandy).

A month today and we’ll be on our way to Normandy. I can’t wait to visit more of the sights I’ve read about, imagined, illustrated; to walk in the footsteps of men I knew and men I’ve come to know through their words. I’ve no doubt it will be an inspiration.

Thank you so much Erika I love putting garments in paintings when I can. Attached the cover of the catalogue featuring the same dress on a beach in Normandy 2016
