I want to say this is a glow up but. GBA version is cuter somehow...

atm the Friend of Mineral Town remake seems to lack that polished/finished feel of the GBA version (i got stuck in an NPC first day) but its still charming. Also Jennifer and Brandon are welcome additions to the town that i'd miss if I play the GBA version again. (I likely will)
