Found this in one of my many boxes of comics, the 1999 launch title from the short lived Cross Plains. It’s the only one I have. This one was all new material, while other titles were a mix of reprints and new material I think.

That's how it may have worked in the comics. The MCU does not follow the comics, just broad strokes. But if we're going by a standard of "the adaptation cannot change details, the comics are LAW" then we gotta portray these on the big screen as is...
