There’s folklore around today that says if it’s dry and mild then winter isn’t done with us yet - the Cailleach is out collecting more wood for her fire. If it’s wet she can’t - so spring is really on the way. It’s raining out my window 🙌🏻 Brigid can take over any time she likes

Happy St Brigid's day / Imbolc folks.

February 1st is the Feast day of St. Brigid (Bridget) of Kildare. The Abbess who shares her name with the Celtic Goddess. Traditionally, it was the feast of Imbolc, the first day of spring. St.Bridgit's cross was the symbol of Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ

Imbolc Blessings to all, as Brigid breathes her fire on the land to warm her for the Spring to come. May all your seeds be fertile, may your quickening be fruitful, may the maiden lead us towards the light. Art by Cicely Mary Barker, Wendy Andrew, Danielle Barlow

As the light goes & we enter the vigil of her feast of 1 Feb, I'm posting a nicely baroque Brigid from the latter part 17th century to begin with: H. Brigitta van Kildare, by Theodor Matham (Rijksmuseum)

St Brigid went to the King of Leinster to request land to build a monastery, not keen to help, he offered as much as her cloak would cover, when spread her cloak covered enough land for a monastery, fields for veg and woods for firewood.

More on genderswap shenanigans- Ignatz is fascinated by the Brigid culture and Petra with the glasses, so they admit and try it out while being fully drunk. Just dude things in a war.

Heyo Ewy, thank you for the artshare and the tag!

Here's two Thormundar OCs that I haven't painted in a while - Brigid the pigfolk warrior, and Zokeri the goblin wizard; as well as two from my homebrew campaign - Folka, the God of Bounty, and Anor Kadar the gnome druid!

Today's Color: Yellow. Just 1 week from Imbolc at this point. Plan your altars, rituals & activities. There's a ton of great food recipes for Imbolc too, with a focus on cheeses & dairy items. You can make a Brigid bed, priapic wands & Brigid crosses! There's plenty of time!

"One of the things I enjoyed the most is how natural & gradual the relationship between Brigid & the Scottish Warrior she shares her journey with develops. It's a raw, very realistic relationship with its ups & downs..."
