Abbasid warriors on a raid in Byzantine Anatolia. The bloodlands divided by the Taurus Mountains experienced almost four centuries of ceaseless warfare. Cappadocia, in particular, watched its great cities shrink, lands rewild, & residents take refuge in caves & underground towns.
