Grayscale I take the best values to show off depth of your character, while flats will have gentle gradients implemented of your characters pallete!!

i usually keep it simple for my convenience. i tend to draw over other layers. my pixel arts usually consist of a reference layer, the background, and one layer for the drawing. and maybe a greyscale filter to check values. usually try to keep it under 10 https://t.co/iajPLMrNdi

Update, trying to keep my values in check. trusting the process is tough because theres always that time during a painting where it looks like a hot mess, but if you keep doing a little here and there it starts to pull together into a cohesive painting.
For this being my first WG drive i learned quite some things:
-Two days is way too much time
-The community really loves drives
-i need to order the info better and determine more clear values
After Peach there are two more drives next tho! Zelda slime inflation is the next one

In contrast to the last piece, this one is almost entirely based on values instead of saturated colors. This is the color palette I used for this trio, plus the two pieces side by side -- can you see how the colors transform between the two?
Tried to finish this after my recent break so it doesn't look good. but well the attempt was made. I feel so rusty... also ngl i felt so fatigued cuz i'm having hard time with backgrounds. And my values and colors are shite...
This only matters to me but when a painting is in color the values are a bit different than in grayscale. this is so wild!
One thing I do to check if the values of an illustration are working is to hide the lineart, if the figure reads well without relying on a line then we are good
