The "infamous" Red Bellied Piranha for this week's #SundayFishSketch. Maybe one of the most misrepresented fish ever (along with several sharks). Piranha swim in schools as a means of protecting themselves from larger predators as opposed to it being a hunting strategy. 🐟
For the schooling theme #SundayFishSketch, E drew a young barracuda and H drew some shrimp.
#DKY @Lee_FG @sharktagging researchers found that while some #sharks flee #hurricanes, #TigerSharks stick around the storm! This behavior may take advantage of a buffet of sea animals that didn’t make it through the storm.

A late #SundayFishSketch submission with this playful Australian lungfish!

An old (over 200 years) Greenland shark. They are not especially ancient, in relative shark terms, but these sharks may live a very long time, perhaps up to 400 years or more. Their slow and very cold lifestyle may enable a lengthy lifespan. #SundayFishSketch #Sciart
An Australian Lungfish for this week's #SundayFishSketch theme of "fish unaffected by time". Fossil remains identical to this species have been found in New South Wales dating back to over 100 mya. Lungfish as a group have been present in the fossil record since the Triassic.
