As a child, I did not so much read fairy tales as I did breathe them in. Fairy tales were as necessary to me as oxygen.

Fun fact, Gustaf was originally going to look like this, until my wife said it wasn't as absurd as Karl (the banana Knight).

The Swedish fairy tale illustrations of Gustaf Tenggren. One can see the influence of John Bauer on his work. When Walt Disney was preparing to make Snow White, he wanted Bauer but, due to the artist's tragic death, Disney found Tenggren instead.

Gustaf Tenggren may be best known as the man who gave Disney’s Snow White her now-iconic look, but he cut his teeth in Gothenburg, Sweden as the man who took the mantle of ”Bland Tomtar och Troll” after John Bauer. https://t.co/CcdLgTgQcR

(she's has a huuuge crush on Gustaf, it's adorable~)

Recieved my copy of "Rough Nights & Hard Days" yesterday. It's a really impressive book, with lots of "meat" to sink your teeth into. I love the new take on classic characters, like Bruno Franke and Gustaf Rechtshandler. I've yet to read the reminder of this tome, but so far...
