I've come to the realization on how much purple I use and how little orange I use in my art

This is one of my favourites of the arrangements I did for the MSX1/screen2. It's the Sunset City, by Toyoi Yuuta.

I played with some color illusion tricks here. For example, both the buildings gradient and the yellowish color of the sun are illusions created by your brain.
